SSCE - Open Water Diver Referral - English

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

1. Knowledge Development (home study) to understand basic principles of scuba diving.

2. Confined Water dives to learn basic scuba skills.

3. Open Water dives to review your skills and explore.

Administration

Before each course, the administration must be in order. Download these forms and hand it in at the first contact moment.

If you answered a question of the medical statement with 'yes', than this form must also be signed by a physician.

The learning materials

PADI offers home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course. From SSC you will get these in the Open Water Student Kit. PADI’s Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures.

For each concept you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you’ll jump in the pool to practice these skills with your instructor and later you'll demonstrate these skills in the Open Water Dives.

Later, as a certified diver, use the course materials as a reference guide for future diving adventures and to review what you learned.

Knowledge Reviews

Before the start of the training you get the student kit from the SSC.

To take part you need to fill in the knowledge reviews of the five chapters and drop them off at the start of the first pool training.

You will start the first pool training with some quizzes and the second pool training you will start with the theory exam. During the pool sessions, you must bring a pen and note paper.

Administration (Certification)

We need need 2 passport photos for our administration (and your certification), drop them off at the start of the first pool training.

Pool training

In six training moments you will learn the proper technique for equipment assembly, diving and problem solving. You can find these techniques on the PADI website with the code in you student kit. You will practise these after the demonstration of your instructor.

The pool water is not hot. To borrow a diver shorty or windsurf suit from a friend or colleague is convenient. The training lasts until approximately 14:30 so it is wise to bring a lunch.

Metingpoint is the SSCE Conference room 1.

Open water training

As a participant in this training, you will receive a PADI Open Water Diver Referral form after completion, with which you can complete four open water dives within 1 year, for example during your holiday at any PADI diving school in the world.

This combines the convenience of a quiet learning environment with the enjoyment of open water conditions during your holiday.

But of course you can also plan open-air dives through Diventure Diving School in the Netherlands in consultation with your instructors.

All our students are registered with DAN Europe "Divers Alert Network" at the start of the Open Water course and are insured during the course.
